LifeInOregon,

I mean… I literally bought a Ford Maverick because it was like a four door family car with the added bonus of a truck bed for many of the purposes I would have wanted a truck for.

LifeInOregon,

I’ve got an Ikea couch I bought fifteen years ago that’s made a move across the US three times. I have two kids in their teens. The couch is still in good shape. I also have an entertainment center/TV stand that I bought from them 10 years ago from Ikea that’s in great shape.

The couch cost me $250, the TV stand cost me $50.

The myth of crappy Ikea furniture is overblown.

LifeInOregon,

I’ll recognize it, but I’d rather not appreciate it. I’d appreciate it if half the country had never been infatuated with an historically proven con-man with delusions of grandeur. Legitimately one of the must frustrating realities for someone who believes in democracy to grapple with is that half the population MUST be less than average intelligence (and even some of greater intelligence will choose willful ignorance).

LifeInOregon,

You’re correct. I was being intentionally obtuse to agree about the sentiment, but also further the lament. Kind of a “being funny to myself (and maybe no one else)” moment, but publicly expressed.

LifeInOregon,

Aside from my iPhone, keyboard, trackpad, and the puck end of my watch charger I own nothing that doesn’t use USB C at this point.

LifeInOregon,

I’ve had an EcoTank for two years and have been VERY happy with it. My only complaint is that I should have gone for a model that allows double sided printing.

The price on the ink is great, that you can fill individual colors as needed is nice, and the print quality is very good.

LifeInOregon,

I’ve had lots of luck removing them, but I’m usually very patient with the pull. Slow, relatively level pulling with the end wrapped around my tweezers twice always seems to work. I think I’ve only snapped one out of dozens, and a dropper of IPA dissolved the adhesive in a couple seconds, so it wasn’t that big an inconvenience in the end.

LifeInOregon,

I get the convenience of microwave ovens, but they are, like a lot of things that are convenient, a sacrifice of quality. I’ve never found something that could be reheated in a microwave to taste better than something I reheated in a toaster oven or on the stove top, and both of those options are only marginally slower than a Microwave for significantly better results.

LifeInOregon,

I buy a hammer. I don’t rent it. When I buy a hammer I pay up front for the one I’m getting and keep it until it breaks or I replace it (and even when I replace it I likely keep the old one). I’ve got four hammers that I’ve had for between 20 and 4 years. And I paid for each of them once.

LifeInOregon,

I’m not sure WHAT people want from a device this size that wouldn’t be “boring”. The incremental updates to the watch, year over year, have made it a fantastic device, and more features or design changes just for the sake of change seems stupid.
