I like that all access passes will work at more parks now but that’s about the only positive I see here. Terrible news for fans of Intimin and especially RMC. Hopefully Great Adventure continues maintaining El Toro and Kingda Ka but I’m not overly hopeful for either ride.
(Sorry, the link may be paywall for some) The Wall Street Journal is not only reporting that the two park chains are potentially merging but are stating that the deal could go through as early as this week. Not sure how anyone else feels about this but I think this could really hurt the consumer… sure, everyone wants to think...
I’m skeptical but I wouldn’t think the WSJ would make this up. Assuming Cedar Fair runs things this might not be terrible, especially for top tier SF parks. I have some concern about lack of competition but with so many other regional parks, plus Sea World building coasters like it’s the early 2000s there’s no monopoly with this merge.
Mind Eraser along with the other rides in the area will be rethemed and to match the reimagined area. The SLC will receive new trains which I’m sure will be a welcome change. They will also be adding a new Nebulaz ride but it does appear that Rodeo (the breakdance) will be removed.
Hopefully the new trains work better for the ride than the floorless trains on Firebird. I’d much rather see them RMC Roar but any improvement at SFA is welcome since it’s been so neglected for years.
Makes Trump seem almost OK in comparison… Almost. It’s crazy to me that I can make the argument that he’s only the third worst Republican president of my lifetime.
Very solid addition for Dorney. I’m bummed this doesn’t have a mid course and second dive drop but I’m sure it’ll be a huge crowd pleaser for the park.
The only positive thing I can say about the name is this makes RMC look like naming creative geniuses and I previously would have said their names were worst in the business. As for the new ride experience, this just looks meh. There will still be no air time, calling the part after the first launch a “rollback” is a complete joke, capacity will be terrible, and it won’t be fun to watch anymore. I also think it’s funny CP thinks going with Zamperla, a company who has never done anything remotely close to this ambitious, is going to fix reliability issues.
Are we about to see a boom of new parks? Interestingly the image in the article reminds me of a “future” park that we talked about on our show a couple years ago that never seemed to materialize but I’m drawing a blank on the details.
I’m assuming that’s the total number of tourists including everyone going to the RV and hotel portions. Still insanely ambitious but maybe not out of the question since Branson got about 10 million visitors last year.
Going back to your beginnings in PC gaming: the first game you played and loved, but the frame rate and resolution weren’t ideal. Your first “I need/want to upgrade my specs” basically.
I woke up this morning feeling some weird pain in my fingers, I thought ugh, just one of these days isn’t it. Then as I scrolled through lemmy, I accidentally bumped my phone against the area where my finger was hurting, and felt a sharp pain. Then I looked. THERE WAS A FUCKING PIECE OF HAIR INSIDE MY SKIN!!! Fucking triggered...

Richard Zimmerman becomes CEO and the majority of the company will be half and half. The new company will use FUN but will retain the Six Flags name.

What a terrible name… And a not at all fitting replacement IMHO. I’m sure it’ll be fun but just not anything like the hype TTD was....
Curb Your Enthusiasm and Crusader Kings III. Sounds good tbh, I'd watch that (sh.itjust.works)

What was your first videogame that made you say "Ok, I need to play this game properly: I need to upgrade my specs"?

I just spend the last 30 minutes trying to remove a hair splinter... Ahhhh!
