@Cassandra - sympathy from across the Fediverse. I happened across your profile on a hunch and this post spoke to me and my past experiences. I wanted to commend you on writing your experiences down, and to suggest that you value them more than your partner's reaction.
Why? I'll let Kurt Vonnegut explain in more detail (the last part of the video is pertinent to your experience) - but I've got a sense from the style of your writing here that what you've written has great value, and I've worked with writers and poets for decades.
