The Hugo static site generator is making this a breeze! 👍
Not only is it relatively simple to add new functionality, but also we don't need to worry about web service security. Hosting is done by our supplier and there is no CMS that needs updates or has security flaws introduced by badly maintained plugins 💪
Static site generators are not for every use case - but they are just perfect for small sites that are updated irregularly. Most Wordpress-based small business websites could also be a static website generated by a tool like Hugo.

The content is composed using Markdown. Hugo (run via GitHub Actions) translates HTML templates and Markdown files to a collection of HTML files. GitHub Pages then displays the resulting HTML files and handles SSL.
All we need to do is write a new article in Markdown syntax and push it to our GitHub repository. HTML generation and publishing are fully automated.
While we could host a CICD pipeline and a web server ourselves, we prefer the current low-effort soultion. 😉
I'm currently working on my #website so you guys can subscribe directly to me instead of going through a platform like #Patreon. I still have to pay the fees of the payment provider and technically they can dictate what I can sell on my site but it's easier to change the payment provider than to appeal to Patreon in case something happens.
What do you think? Worth the hassle or should I rather focus on Patreon?
