@fell Undeniably good. If they aren't confident they can meet EU data protection rules, then that means they have vastly inadequate vigilance in protecting peoples' data.

If they stay out of the EU indefinitely, that's a dead canary. It's a reminder that their data practices are terrible. If they join later... well, at least it means they improved in any small way, which is better than nothing.

Still, the only rational thing to do when it comes to Meta is not to engage with or interact with it in any way. Meta absolutely intends to monetize you, with or without your consent.
