More disinvestment in education in Ontario.

An independent panel finds the Ford government cut investment in universities and colleges. Ontario spends only 57% per student of what other provinces spend. The province would have to spend $4B/year just to reach the country's average.

'The government muzzled the panelists from speaking about the rationale behind their recommendations.'

Proof that education is no guarantee of intelligence or wisdom:

"the new process, intended to ensure library books are inclusive, appears to have led some schools to remove thousands of books solely because they were published in 2008 or earlier."

SheerDumbLuck, to asklemmy in Where do you get your news from?

I’m in Canada, where the tech giants just blocked all Canadian media outlets due to new media profit sharing legislation.

I get my news from:

  • Nora Loreto’s daily news podcast
  • Mastodon
  • Direct from CBC, Toronto Star
  • Lemmy
  • What my friend group shares on Discord.

I haven’t been as invested in news lately, but this looks a little promising: dailycanada.caIt’s an rss feed from all media outlets in Canada.
