Just finished Olga #Tokarczuk's 'Empusion', her first #novel since winning the Nobel prize.
A magical, intoxicating, even addictive read, with such literary beauty as I've rarely found in a novel, much less a novel that cheekily mixes quirky intellectual caricatures with good old folk #horror
Saying anything more might spoil the experience: best to discover its joys without knowing too much in advance!
@bookstodon Like all the best of #horror, the novel confronts us with what we are suppressing and denying. But it doesn't preach, it coolly describes, dissects, and acknowledges. This is an eery novel about big topics and small pleasures, dualism and food, God and demons, walks in the woods and men debating women

My fears appeared to be correct. Now that I knew what to look for, I spotted her occasionally in the cafeteria or on the campus grounds. More alarming, she audited a few lectures I attended. She never approached me, but I could feel her eyes on me. She sat watching and occasionally fingering one of her crucifixes. I considered approaching her, but I thought that would make things worse. Hopefully, she would get bored with following me if I didn’t pay any attention.

Among the falling leaves coloring the landscape in warm shades of orange and red, a Native American curse returns to Maine. Can we fight this evil threatening to destroy our quaint town?
My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular #horror#books far & wide.
HAVE YOU DECIDED ON YOUR QUESTION tells a darkly gripping, relatable tale of a girl poisoned by potential possibilities. This twisted take on technology is made more frightening because of how plausible (and perhaps, inevitable) the future it describes seems to be.

As the harbor explodes before me,
I glance back at David,
his face lit by the orange glow
of the shooting flames.
Before the curse can claim us,
David takes my hand, and we run.

Started to watch Satan's Slaves last night on Shudder but then a freak storm came through & we lost WiFi.
Thank the Dark Lord for physical media, we watched Cat People instead and will finish Slaves tonight.
I write all sorts of things, including smut. Where can I get my creepy sexy horror and weird sexy comedic stories published? I’m having a heck of a time finding a market for this. Examples include space marine/alien/vampire hilarity, vile nauserotica, catman on catman, and hobbit necromancy romance. #smut#erotica#horror#WritingCommunity#SFF#SpeculativeFiction#QueerFiction@writingcommunity
