a hood is always a challenge.

It takes way more yarn than I think - at least the amount of a sleeve. But I won't run out of yarn - at least I'm not very afraid of that.

But getting the shape right is much more difficult than the deceptively simple form let's one think. I am on a good track at the moment but the crown was just weird. Had to rip it out, now on to the next installment.

I could just follow a pattern, but where's the fun in that?

More socks.

And there will be many more in the near future.

They are for my daughter who moved into a room where the floor will probably be rather cold in winter: ground floor (cellar below), building from ca 1900, wooden or tile floors.

The socks are made from Austermann Step Merino, which is 100% wool (only realized that at home, but the colors were just perfect). So those are socks to wear at home when sitting at the desk to study.

shopping in

I found a gorgeous store called . It's stuffed to the brim with wonderful yarns. I loved walking through it, finding new to me brands and yarns. Thinking about what could be done with them.

I ended not buying much, because I already have a basement full of yarn and fiber.

Top left is my "souvenir" skein, the socks made will remind me a long time off this vacation. Top right is a gift for a very dear person.

Heavy #knitting

For months I haven't used any needles thicker than 4.0 mm. And even that was an exception, 3.25 mm was more "normal" with thinner needles for socks thrown in.

Now I'm knitting with 4.5 mm and it feels "awkward", so much movement necessary. But I enjoy the quick progress.

This is going to be a sweater for my daughter, using Holst Garn Tides held doubled. I had a 500g cone in moss sitting around and she loved the color. What's a mum to do?

Final "project" for the

The ball on the left was a mostly finished sock. But I ran out of yarn well before the toe and couldn't find a third ball of the (already discounted) colorway.

It's been collecting dust for a few months and the along has given me the necessary kick in the back to unravel it.

I'll let it sit for a bit so it unkinks and then I'll search for a new idea.
