So far there's only one viable option for #SelfHosting file storage; #seafile. However, I need to resolve the backup issue before I can start using it.
I tried seafile-mirror but I couldn't get it to work. I tried fuse, but that didn't work in a docker container, even after tweaking the #docker compose file.
The only option seems to be somehow physically cloning the configuration, file chunks and database files.
Is there an app I can self-host that will let users upload stuff to my server? I need something where I can send a link to someone, and they can upload files & folders to my server (it doesn’t matter much to me where, as long as I can transfer them out to wherever I need later)....
Recently re-discovered this gem of a blog post, written in 2018 by Nikita Propokov, about his disenchantment with the state of modern software. Do you think it’s still relevant today (perhaps more/less so than it was when it was written)?
@sahrizv: 2014 - We must adopt #microservices to solve all problems with monoliths. 2016 - We must adopt #docker to solve all problems with microservices. 2018 - We must adopt #kubernetes to solve all problems with docker
Now everything is a microservice, even when it doesn’t need to be.
And then there is the whole noSql debacle, where relational projects reinvent the wheel every time with nosql and for some reason that is thought to be smart
#itsupport
#Frage#FragDieFediverse#FragDasFediverse#Followerpower@askfedi_de
How do you keep track of your software updates and latest releases?
I am not talking about your OS, but mostly hosted web applications on linux (docker and non-docker). For docker I know there is watchtower but I am not searching for automation.
Subscribing to RSS feeds, mailing lists, bookmarking some git repositories, following some projects on mastodon, using mail notification on updates if possible... is there any better approach?
Way for non-technical users to upload to my server with resumability
