So much going on. So many high stakes that keep getting higher amongst all the BS circling the drain.

As far as I’m concerned it still comes down to this:

You can vote for the 82-year old in 2024 and vote for a younger generation of leaders next time around,

Or you can vote for the 79-year old lunatic rapist in 2024 and never vote again.

Your choice. No matter what it’s a binary one.

The U.S. Supreme Court takes up #gerrymandering again this year – looking in particular about how a judge can tell if South Carolina’s new map was done to unconstitutionally dilute Black voting power, or primarily to dilute Democrats’ voting power, which would be legal.

Last term’s decisions upholding the Voting Rights Act don’t apply or offer many clues.

By all means, Republicans. Vote for Trump for Speaker so we can have a blue Tsunami in 2024. Show all of America that there is no non-MAGA Republican wing anymore. There are no moderates, no pragmatists, no actual conservatives left — just Trumpists. Admitting who they now are would be the first honest thing Republicans had done in years.

And Trump being Speaker offers him no immunity from prosecution.

Trump's speech in California was absolutely insane. The leader of the party of "law and order and due process" calls to execute shoplifters on the spot. The crowd cheers.
There's some serious thirst for blood there. It's frightening.

This is the dumbest of both-siderism and you should be ashamed of yourself.

In the real world, the D's are liberal and the R's are fascist. The D's stand for democracy and the R's are actively trying to end it.

You are a shill for fascism, trying to discourage people from voting to stop Trump.

Congress: The pentage spending bill vote was split with 214 to 212 bringing the government to a hault...

Them: Its all the GOPs fault, their evil, they are halting the whole governement for themselves!

Me: You talking about that 214 to 212 vote where 209 democrats and 5 GOP voted against it causing it to fail?

Them: yes

Me: And thats the fault of those 5 GOP voters for voting against it?

Them: Yes

Me: Not the 209 democrats who voted ont he same side as those 5 GOP? The democrats arent to blame for that just the GOP?

Can anyone suggest a candidate other than Biden or Trump that look fairly moderate and a good choice? I have ruled out all third-party, all alternative democrats, and of course Trump... This leaves me thinking maybe one of the republican candidates are worth voting for but so far every one of those I checked out are pretty horrific too...

Is there even one candidate that is remotely a reasonable and moderate choice?

TruthSandwich,

@freemo

Which means helping Trump.

Remember, only a vote for Biden stops Trump. A protest vote is a type of protest, not a type of vote.

We have this misconception that is executing the will of the majority... But thats not true.

Any democracy that gives 51% of people what they want, even when that is abusive to the wishes of the 49% will not survive, that leads to revolution... democracy has never been about majority rule.

What democracy is about is rule by the people, ALL the people. Any successful system will reach agreements that nearly everyone will be happy enough with so as not to pick up a gun and shoot the other side for oppressing them. Its about compromising enough that everyone can settle rather than agree.

This is exactly why the electorial college and other elements of government exist rather than a simple 51% rule... because we want to make sure any idea has atleast some level of support from most represented groups... so in the end the ones who may not like the vote can at least live with it.

Speaker-in-name-only McCarthy could cut a deal with Democrats to keep the government open. Five breakaway Republicans in swing districts could work with Democrats to keep the government.

Don't let ANY Republican off the hook because they won't stand up to the extremists in their own party.
