I’ve #read His Human Widow by Michele Mills (#book 10/Monsters Love Curvy Girls). I love this alien #romance world & 10 was a fun addition to the Hyrrokin-human love matches. Plus, a bonded pet!!! Hyrrokins are not really monsters like in the #monsters genre. They are just Devil-looking aliens. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #reading#books#romancelandia#bookstodon@romancelandia@romancebooks
I’ve #read Coveted By The Hunter by Lynnea Lee (#book 10/Xarc’n Warriors). This post-apocalyptic alien #romance series is definitely one of my favorites. I hardly ever read #books right when they are released but this was close - it was new in August. The MMC isn’t as human-savvy as some of his fellow warriors so mistakes from earlier books are repeated with different outcomes. TW for abduction & giant, gross insects. #reading#romancelandia#bookstodon@romancebooks https://amzn.to/3ZbxVZC
I’ve #read Rock Hard Gargoyle (#book 1/Possessive Monsters). I’m not a huge fan of #monsters#romance or #bodyguard trope, but this was well-done and quite charming. The MCs live in the world after a long-lasting concealment spell has ended & magics are revealed to the world. Includes a surprising light spanking scene in a mostly non-kinky book. #reading#books#romancelandia#romancebooks#bookstodon@romancebooks
Lynnea Lee’s Xarc’n Warriors is my 1st or 2nd top post-apocalyptic alien #romance series. In this 9th #book, Desired By The Hunter, both MCs have to get over the pre-conceptions and out of their heads to decide to be together. (It’s saying a lot that I’ll say this is 1 or 2 bc I absolutely detest insects.) #books#read#reading#romancelandia#bookstodon@romancebooks https://amzn.to/45QxaaB
I recently #read Vines by Brynne Asher (#book 1/The Killers). The unusual title is really not all that mysterious past chapter 2. Add an ex-Secret Service cop to someone who should never have moved so close to DC to a #romance and there’s bound to be danger and mayhem. Wish she had made friends with the ghost haunting her Ordinary, though. Loose thread, that was. #reading#books#romancebooks#romancelandia#bookstodon@romancebooks https://amzn.to/3qVJaZy
One reviewer on Goodreads wrote, "It's one of those books that has you actually holding your breath at least once. There were phrases that I had to speak aloud because they were so gorgeous I wanted to feel the weight and shape of them for myself."
Can other Romance readers explain why insta love is so hated? I actually prefer insta love to the long drawn out getting to know characters. Like, for example, I actually prefer it when characters just meet and they have this instant but deep connection, like the universe was just biting it's time until it can get these people in the same room. I find the longer getting to know characters books without the instalove challenging to read. I'm more interested in how the MC's can sustain their instalove and deepen it. I find it difficult to follow characters as they're trying to get to know each other. #Romance#RomanceLandia@romancelandia
I’ve #read Dominick by Eve Langlais (Growl and Prowl #book 1). I saw it pushed on IG & chose it on the strength of EL’s name & previous writing, which I generally like. I found this one a bit harder to follow, though I typically love second-chance #romance, veterans, shifters, Canada, and rescues. I can’t pinpoint why I struggled. Maybe I just need a few days off work. #reading#books#romancelandia, #bookstodon@romancebooks@bookstodon https://amzn.to/45hbftn
I #read as #audiobook A Girl Like Her by Talia Hibbert. I read the #book a few years ago, but this was my 1st listen. FMC is autistic, but only 1 mention that seems to fly right over the MC’s head. Maybe this is common in the UK, but it’s literally the only thing that bugs me about this otherwise perfect book (that he doesn’t seem to connect that word to her quirkiness). #romance#books#romancelandia#bookstodon@bookstodon@romancebooks https://amzn.to/3sA7P6k
Finished the #audiobook of Never Seduce A Scot by Maya Banks. This is a repeat #read for me. The heroine is deaf and the age is before sign language. Middle Ages Scotland also means violence, a lack of modern healthcare, and forced marriage. Recommend it. #book#books#reading#tomance#romancelandia#bookstodon@bookstodon
I #read Healing Her Heart by Miranda Martin. This is the 1st #book of her new spinoff series from the Red Planet of Tajss world. It was published in April. I am always interested in second marriage #books, particularly widows/widowers. This fated mates #alien#romance addresses grief and recovery, and I honestly loved that the human MC was a chaplain (pastoral rather than liturgical). #watchareading#reading#romancelandia#bookstodon@bookstodon https://amzn.to/3KOO2Xc
#WhatchaReading ? , Though only published in 2018, Lights and Sirens by Lisa Henry has sadly aged like milk, at least for this American. A cop throwing his weight around, even to protect his boyfriend, does not fly. There's an interesting arc for the other MMC, a paramedic who's mentally overloaded by too many horrific accidents, but it's all kind of brushed over in the end, and the romance also happens way too quickly.
@willaful@romancelandia@romancebooks I read a story over the weekend from around 2014 where the male lead was Border Patrol and the female leads brother was trying to illegally enter the country. Ant the end, male lead transfers to ICE cuz they only go after criminals and BP was stressing him out. It did NOT age well.
I #read the 38 hr #audiobook of Debt of Honor by Tom Clancy. This 6th #book in the Jack Ryan #thriller series is really important to the overall plot arc of Ryan’s life. I am not going to wax on about the highs or lows of it, but if you read any of this series as a standalone, this is the one to invest in. I have an economics degree & think this might be very difficult to parse in places. #books#reading#romancelandia#bookstodon@bookstodon
