I use #Linux as the main OS on my computers, but also use Windows 10 on one.
For the sole reason to download the #ebooks I buy.
I play the occasional Windows-only game as well, but those I can do without.
I can't do without ebooks.
I really, really wish there was an open standard for getting any ebook, with or without #drm, onto any device without having to rely on a single piece of software from one company. #EU, do something! #DailyRant#PetPeeve#ADE#AdobeDigitalEditions
As the harbor explodes before me,
I glance back at David,
his face lit by the orange glow
of the shooting flames.
Before the curse can claim us,
David takes my hand, and we run.
@AimeeMaroux@bookstodon@smutstodon Directly from the author if at all possible. Avoid Amazon like the plague. I'd rather send the author money and find a pirate edition than give Bezos his pound of flesh.

An amazing result because overall Amazon has about 90% of the English Language ebook market worldwide.
Smashwords was setup to sell Erotic books that Amazon wouldn't publish but they (now with D2D) do all kinds and redistribute to Apple, Kobo, Barnes&Noble.
Google sells ebooks on the Playstore yet is one of the lowest sales.
"Experts have been selected to create a multidisciplinary volume with a thematic approach to the vast subject, tackling administration, army, economy, law, mobility, religion (local and imperial religions and Christianity), social status, and urbanism. They situate the phenomena of Latinization, literacy, bi-, and multilingualism within local and broader social developments and draw together materials and arguments that have not before been coordinated in a single volume."
"This interdisciplinary study analyses the connections between literary Modernism and right-wing ideology. Moreover, it is the first academic study to explore the reception of these Modernist authors by today's far right, seeking to understand in what ways they use strategic readings of Modernist texts to legitimise right-wing ideology."
@bibliolater@bookstodon@histodon@histodons@linguistics I suppose everyone thinks their hometown is unique. But New York is the only place in America that can claim a true Dutch heritage in almost every element of its society. Let’s remember who built the wall, whose namesake street is the world capital of finance. I believe the spirit of the Dutch is still alive here, and helps make NY…or at least NYC…what it is today.
I have been gathering a few #SciFi books from the 1990's from different places like #Baen#Publishers. Some are a little "interesting", but a couple are rather good. So far.
@NeonBeal
My fave Baen is Star Soldiers by Andre Norton (a Baen free eBook). Because it includes Star Rangers (aka The Last Planet) which is my favorite Norton. Especially the prolog and the scene in the hall of chairs.
