Baby Saw Whet Owls in Hoo-tah

State 44 - Utah

Southwest Wildlife Foundation - Cedar City, UT

Utah doesn’t look to have too many raptors resources. Today’s place seems pretty small, and the other one I found is temporarily closed while they build a new facility. But they’re both still doing important work!

Their Facebook feed is pretty active, and they look to have a fairly frequent number of speaking events, so it is probably more adult centered than for kids or the whole family. They do look to have quite a number of large birds if prey though that I’m not super familiar with, being on the East Coast.

They featured these photos of extra tiny Saw Whet babies. Saw Whet Owls are already tiny to begin with, but these even littler ones have their cuteness even more concentrated! I really like their color scheme.

This guy looks like a South Park character standing here by itself.

And this is the mighty bird it’ll grow up to be.
