Most every place I have visited animals seems to be pretty well run. They’re generally clean, have have employees, and are focused on conservation or rehabilitation.

There was one near me once that was a bad experience. This “zoo” was supposed to be in a mid sized town near me that I was not aware had a zoo. A person I worked with always wanted to pet a tiger, and they advertised a photo op with a baby white tiger, so I said I’d go with her.

It was located in an industrial park, and the animals were basically in a windowless warehouse. The cats were all pacing restlessly and the birds were very nervous looking. After we paid admission, we learned the tiger was too restless, so there was no photos being done anyway. So not only did we not get what we paid for, we essentially ended up paying to be depressed by everything else we saw.

The place was shut down pretty soon after. The person is went with eventually got there tiger photo at a park in Florida, which was probably Carol Baskin’s place. This was all pre-Tiger King.

So this is what have me apprehensive about promoting this place, but they seem to display all their licenses and such right on their website, so it seems legitimate.

I try to keep all my posts positive, since that seems to be the theme of the original sub, but without being too graphic, have any of you had any similar experiences?
