@Barbramon1 Star Spangled Banner is problematic musically, but I prefer it over America the Beautiful lyrically and topic-wise. Should either be a national anthem, probably not for the baggage and/or idealistic suggestiveness while ignoring reality of the nation. But maybe that's what national anthems are supposed to do.
How about expanding a short song that encompasses the original goals to create a nation while realizing it's a long hard battle? The song I have in mind is Schoolhouse Rock's song about the Constitution. Whose preamble I think should replace the Pledge of Allegiance that kids are still brainwashed to say everyday in public schools. There's a travesty far worse than the Star Spangled Banner (original, I haven't run across the altered one mentioned yet but I'm sure it's terrible).
