I have to wonder, how do you feel about such prolific institutions using your software in an official capacity?

Is it more pride or anxiety? I feel like I'd trend towards the latter.

It's great, but now all PR departments like weather service, municipalities etc. need to set up shop for their (critical) public service announcements.

Edit: and move off private sector data hoarder apps.
