This is sad but not unsurprising. And, it's why, although I applaud the idea behind Mastodon and engage quite regularly, I do not think it will be sustainable in the long run.

I have a feeling most academics will eventually go to BlueSky or continue on LinkedIn and maintain dwindling Twitter presence.
