Gargron, 11 months ago @ummjackson It's not redundant because otherwise it would be impossible to tell the difference between a handle and an e-mail address. There's already a convention of writing social media handles with a @ in front.

jason, 11 months ago @Gargron writing social media handles with an at was incorrect when twitter was created and it is incorrect now. The handle text is the user’s handle. The at sign is a sigil to link it within the context of twitter, or to make a reply. To recapitulate this mistake shows a lack of taste.
