What's the best or favourite piece of DIY around the house you've ever done? In my last 3 homes it's got to be fitting a bidet toilet seat adapter.
I know @jerry 's will likely be something garden related 😅 what's yours?

@jerry@jamesjguthrie My wife and I did all the labor except installing new linoleum in the bathroom and finishing the sunroom drywall. I think that saved a LOT.
Also, this was 2017 when material costs were like... reasonable.
@horse@jamesjguthrie yeah. I hear you. The price of building materials is nutty. We are looking at updating our vacation place and both the labor and materials costs are crazy now. At least 2x pre-Covid
In late summer 2020, we had an above-ground pool installed. We quckly realized we need a deck, so we got a bunch of quotes. In early 2021, when we were trying to decide on which of the quotes to go with, I contacted all the contractors in light of the new reality, and all but one exactly doubled their prices.
The one we went with only increased their prices by 30% somehow.
@neirbowj@codinghorror@jamesjguthrie being able to take a shower while running the dishwasher and washing machine is simply amazing. Also helps when I have a house full of people for holidays and we don’t have someone stuck taking a cold shower.
It’s also more energy efficient since I’m not keeping a giant tank of winter hot all the time.
