When you're struck by lightning
you don't notice a thing
it all happens too fast
for your brain to take note.

One second you're alive,
before the next you're not.
Unaware that you've passed
you admire the boat

that arrived on the dot.
Pleased, you step aboard it
and nod to its captain
and see the shore remote.

Your old life you forgot,
and relieved, off you cast.
