I have acquired (what I assume is a) #Yucca gigantea. The problem: I know next to nothing about it, since I don't typically grow tropical/indoor plants!
I've done some reading, so am beginning to understand its needs, but I do not have enough knowledge to tell if it is a healthy plant.
Can someone help out and tell me whether any particular TLC (beyond clearing the pot of debris & maybe amending the soil a bit) is needed here? Thank you!!
@robyn@plants If it's anything like mine, clear away the dead leaves, see if it needs repotting (it needs well-draining soil), water it thoroughly (like, soak it in water and let that drain), and then leave it alone in a spot where it'll get lots of light (but not direct sunlight, because it'll get scorched).
Mine is a spiteful little thing that starts to wilt when I look at it for too long, but then when I leave it unwatered for weeks, it puts out new leaves. :)
@needzmoarpaula@plants Thanks Paula!! I did clean it up, trimmed the dead leaves, and gave it some new soil (a mix for palm trees and succulents that drains very well).
