Tried to look under it and I don’t see any spores, it’s just lumpy all the way down. I’m in northern Israel if it’s relevant. Thanks!

These are some older photos of what I believe is Hericium cirratum, a species related to Hericium erinaceus (otherwise known as Lion’s Mane Mushroom)....

Usually Shaggy Mane mushrooms are prepared fresh, before they “deliquesce” into a black goo. However, the black goo is edible, and I thought that this recipe was very cool as it shows the black goo being used as an interesting ingredient.
