Huh… Been using Linux for 20 years, only just learned the origins of fstab.
How embarrassing.
jeremoose, wow, it never occured to me that it meant file system table. I feel like fstabl would have made more sense then. although it probable would have just become “fuhstabul”

I literally didn’t put it together that it was FS-Tab until a couple years ago when I was setting up an encrypted drive manually in
/etc/crypttab, something I had done many times before, when it finally clicked.I’ve used Linux heavily for about 15 years.
