@azforeman@linguistics I don't know, perhaps the Latvians have good reason for this. The USSR tried to destroy the culture of the Baltic people by mass deportations and colonialism. You have to ask, why 36% of the population speak Russian?
In addition, Russian-speaking media outlets throughout Europe are often a vector for Putin's propaganda machine.
That all said, there are fundamental questions of human and minority rights enshrined in the EU and UN that Latvia is party to.
