Duchess, in What do you most enjoy in life simulation games?
@Duchess@yiffit.net avatar

I like a lot of family gameplay and drama, creating half cousins and stepsiblings and making everything as messy as possible lol

jesterraiin, in What do you most enjoy in life simulation games?

Organizing the living space.

There’s something magical about it.

Elevator7009,

Makes sense. Especially because we have a limited capacity to do this in real life. What are we going to do with our own living space once it’s arranged, unarrange it and put it back together? Most people hate undoing completed work, including me.

Okalaydokalay, in How do you feel about The Sims 5 being free to play at launch?

I usually only ever play the base game so it’s fine with me. But if it’s always online, forget it. It’s bad enough I have to put up with that shitty EA launcher instead of just being able to run from Steam or without a launcher like the old days.

KindaLost, in How do you feel about The Sims 5 being free to play at launch?

I’m more twitchy about forced online and them trying to make it “social”. Or subscription based. Ew.

First hit being free to try and lure new people in isn’t entirely new. It will be bare bones but the base game usually is.

Panda, in Nice - a catch all community

I heard about Life By You very recently. I haven't read much about it yet but it does seem very customisable.

Can't wait to try Paralives when it's out. I always get super excited when they release a new video!

I'm glad The Sims is finally getting some competition!

SgtAStrawberry,

I really look forward to Life by You, but if you don't know much about it. Just keep in mind that the publisher Paradox is just as if not more DLC happy than EA. So expect a good game, but a lot of dlc.

If you are used to the sims, lots of dlc is nothing new. I just wanted to make sure you don't expect that part to go away.

Panda,

Ah, I’m fine with the DLCs, honestly. As long as they add enough content (and not just content that should have been in the base game) and the pricing is fair, I’m fine with it.

Which one are you looking forward to the most?

SgtAStrawberry,

Paradox absolutely loves dlc, but they are a bit of both when it comes to them. While some definitely add a good amount of new content, a lot really are just base game stuff. But there pricing is miles better than EA, and they have a lot of sales and bundles at least on steam.

Like on a good sale you can grab an entire game with all dlc for the price of like two expansion packs.

In regards to which one I look forward to most it is a bit of a split, I look forward to Paralives a lot, I even say a bit more than Life by You, but I have a much easier time looking forward to something when I have a release date so right now Life by you probably wins, but as I said it is very even.

Panda,

True. I usually don’t mind if there’s enough time between the release of the base game and its DLCs AND the base game doesn’t feel like anything important was missing that the DLC would add. I like new content but not if it should’ve been in the base game instead. As long as the price is fair and not almost the same or even half of the price of the base game.

And regarding the game you’re looking forward to, I agree. I’ve been looking forward to playing Paralives for years but it’s been a slow process (not that I’m complaining) so I’m looking forward to trying Life By You as it’s coming out soon(ish). It’s really nice to see more life sim games like these coming out. The Sims really needs some competition.

SgtAStrawberry,

They really do and it is nice that they finally getting it.

And regarding Pardox base vs dlc while in hindsight you can definitely say some dlc content should have been base game. From my experiences their base games dose still offer a full scale experiences and it will be even more so if you come along from the beginning.

Panda,

I agree! I didn’t have any problems with the other Paradox games either, to be honest. And I like DLCs that don’t just add cosmetics, but new features / content as well.

By the way, I just heard Life By You was delayed until 2024! :-/

SgtAStrawberry,

That sucks, at least a lot of other good stuff comes out this fall. And you know hopefully they use the time to actually improve the game.

Panda,

Yeah I’m sure they did it for a good reason! What other games are you looking forward to this year?

SgtAStrawberry,

Lots. Starfield, Citcities skylines 2, Forza Motorsport, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Lies of P, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hercule Poirot, Book of Hours, Stray Gods and Spider man 2 but I don’t have a PS5 so I will mostly just look at that one.

How about you?

Panda,

Oh yes! I’m really looking forward to Cities Skylines 2 (btw if you haven’t already tried it, I’d recommend Workers & Resources!). I bought Baldur’s Gate 3 last weekend so I’ve been playing that. I want to try AC Mirage as well! And Starfield, too!

Haven’t heard of Hercules Poirot and Book of Hours but I’ll have a look!

SgtAStrawberry,

Haven’t heard of Workers and Resources, I check it out thanks.
