I’ll go against the flow and say that for a single user instance, setup is quite easy, as long as you know what “docker compose” is and are somewhat comfortable with setting up a command line server. Just make sure you disable logins for anyone else and read the guides through before you start.
Updates have been no problem on my side, I just update the version number and let Docker do its thing.
