I just finished a project for a US client who wanted to get in touch with living relatives in Denmark. It turned out that one of the living relatives is my best friend from school!
@KottalGenealogy@genealogy We had a similar experience a while back.A genealogist in the US asked us to locate a client‘s living relatives in the Dortmund area. All she had was two photos - one labeled „Coni mit Puppenwagen“ and another labeled „Hochzeit Karl und Heidi.“ Through a series of pretty lucky breaks, we found the living relatives still living 2 blocks from where my husband grew up. He and they had all gone to school together! It truly is a small world after all! 🌐😍
@KottalGenealogy@genealogy My aunt told me that her best friend is from our ancestor's town. I asked about the surname of her friend. I immediately said: "We're related, I have a lot of people with that surname in the tree" And we are. There's only one marriage (I think) that links us with her. (Yeah, I know, technically we're not related.) #genealogy

Actually I have: last year(?) I drove my 7th(?) cousins through Black Forest to show them the farms of their ancestors. While preparing the trip, I learned that one of those farms is now owned by my elementary school teacher, I hadn't met since forth grade. It was pretty weird for me to address her by first name. @genealogy
