Looking towards next season, I need some recommendations for seed supplier. I used to buy mine at Wilko's, but they're closing, so where would you recommend I switch to?

@peeteepee @gardening I like these people but I guess it partly depends on what you want to grow: https://www.realseeds.co.uk/

@peeteepee @gardening We've been buying from https://www.nickys-nursery.co.uk/ for years and generally been happy customers. Packs are slightly smaller quantities than some, which suits us. Maybe not flawless - one year all our Green Zebra tomato plants had orange tomatoes apart from the fruits on one branch of one plant. We don't really understand how that could happen, but guess it was some kind of cross-contamination.

@peeteepee @gardening They’ve already been mentioned but Real Seeds are excellent. I’ve bought a lot through them over the years. Sow seeds have been really good for green manures.

I’ve found Chiltern seeds, DT Browns, Mr Fothergills, Premier and King’s have all been good to buy from. What I can never remember is which company provided seed that didn’t do so well.

Last autumn I bought a lot of seed from Homebase online as they had a clearance sale £1 per pack of seed from different companies, sutton, mr fothergills, sarah raven, RHS. Price wise it’s worth keeping an eye out for these kinds of deals now we’re into autumn.

I’m venturing more into seed saving and landrace gardening so I will be buying heritage/heirloom varieties more here on in.

The Lidl china asters were dirt cheap and fabulous. I have some sweet williams from there in a tray.

On a tight budget they shouldn't be ignored.

@peeteepee @gardening Real seeds are excellent, and for all budgets, I would recommend Premier seeds. They have a decent selection of organic seeds and prices are around £1.19 for a generous amount.

@peeteepee @gardening I'm in a similar position, curious to see the replies. I'm going to have a go at preserving some seeds from this season, but I've no idea how well that will go.
