The vast majority of the instances in that screenshot have known jumps from 1~50 users to tens of thousands in less than a day. These instances also happen to not require a captcha on sign up....
Is this Total User Counter true? It seems kind of wrong because the Graph is only at 300k and i cannot imagine that we grew 200k people in the last 4 hours....
EDIT: I know many people have a knee-jerk aversion to anything crypto, but this is not a scheme to make money. I would be happy to see this done with fiat as well, but IMO this is much easier to do with smart contracts....
While I don’t expect there’s going to be any meaningful impact on Reddit once the dust settles, I do think this will bring a lot of new users to the Fediverse....
I told somebody I know who knew about Reddit’s API changes about Lemmy. He has a master’s degree in Computer Science and works as a software engineer. But then, he told me that it’s too confusing to get into, even for someone like him. This is great feedback and I hope that these issues will be fixed in the coming months....

Recently we saw the impact with Twitter on Mastodon, myself I’ve discovered Lemmy even if I wasn’t a reddit user. And before that Facebook first spread friendica and diaspora. It looks next step will be...
for the longest time a lot of images posted to reddit were really posted on imgur (until they started hosting it on their own, too). is there a fediverse’d imgur we should be using to complement lemmy? its docs say it shouldn’t be used for large images and videos....
I’ve been listening to this stream on my transit into and out of work for a while now. Some of the music quality varies, but it’s a real, sincere effort to promote musicians on the network and it feels in line with Pirate Radio. Lots of great songs, along with some very quirky interludes.
