ampersand, Not much of a #horror fan over here, but I still really fell for Stephen Graham Jones’ My Heart Is a Chainsaw (especially the audiobook read by the incomparable Cara Gee). Its particular brand of theoretical & sassy gave me a new appreciation for slashers.
But I haven’t been able to make the sequel, Don’t Fear the Reaper, work for me. Instead, I’ve got two 2023 Indigenous books of a slightly-less-gory horror bent:
-> Cherie Dimaline’s Funeral Songs for Dying Girls (YA)
-> Bad Cree_ by Jessica Johns.
Both well worth the adventures, even if horror’s not your thing! @bookstodon
