For a moment I thought this was like a beginners’ first 3D rendering. Surreal…

Love it! Looks very evil. :)

Crul,

This reminded me to search for the r/evilbuildings equivalent and found: !evilbuildings

It will take them a while to go back to their home… :(

This is a real photo, a couple of videos:

Zeus, in Still image from "Fortress/Крепость" by Dima Fedotov

thank you for reminding me of this; it’s so great and i’d completely forgotten about it

i’m still subscribed to him on youtube, even though it’s been 7 years

This is one of my favorite videos. I love the concept of war machines continuing to fight even after humanity is long gone. “Last Day of War” shows how nature is claiming back the land after the war ended and the last one of them finally goes down, which is eerily beautiful.

The artist made a crowdfunding campaign a few years ago to continue the story and produce more of these videos, but sadly, he wasn’t successful. :(

I like this. Most apocalyptic art shows well after the apocalypse, not shortly before

Norgur, in Trantorian Dream / Foundations' Edge by Michael Whelan

Anyone else got flashbacks about some Vulkan meeting God or something?

Wow, this is gonna haunt me for a few nights I guess. :D

That was not one of the better Foundation books but I remember that cover art very fondly.

Haven’t read it yet, but I found the art on 70sscifiart.tumblr.com and I think it fits this community very well. :)

morganth,

Honestly I’d recommend just reading the original trilogy (Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation) and skipping the rest. The first three are excellent; the others have their moments but aren’t on the same level.

Aussiemandeus, in Portrait of a Woman and Boy by Artist Unknown

Imagine sitting there for 10 hours after this artists asked if he could paint you and your son. Your excited you put on your Sunday best and he paints this

addie, in COVID-20 by Klaus Wittmann

Cool picture. Pointless nitpick - the coronavirus outbreak was COVID '19, ie. first identified in 2019. This picture would have to be COVID 23 at least. Carry on.

The image was made in 2020, though - so the artist was probably going for the “next iteration”. ;)
