The lyrics in this song always make me smile, easily my favorite TMBG song.
When I was a teenager in the 90’s, I had a really tight group of friends. There was 4 of us and we were all pretty different personality wise but we enjoyed music and hanging out together. But one of us had a really bad habit of being a late sleeper and just slow to get going.
And this guys mom didn’t care that we would sometimes be a little mean trying to get him up on a weekend or whatnot.
So IDK how often but it was often, we would show up and he wouldn’t be ready and we would all be pissed about waiting.
So I decided once that since he had this massive stereo in his room and it was on the other side from his bed, I would put some music on really loud and force him to get up. Well it sort of worked but he would often just throw the blanket over his head and ignore us… Until I blased I Palidrome I on repeat almost FULL BLAST
For a couple years it was his, you done fucked up by not getting ready on time, alarm clock.
almost 30 years later we still joke about that and the song is one of the special memories we share, so this will always be one of my favorites
