My new "try to at least stop the descent into increasingly worse burnout" plan is to increase my protein intake.

My theory is that protein is used to make important brain chemicals, so maybe if I increase the available raw materials to make said brain chemicals, I will have more brain chemicals and that might make me less brain urgh.

I can barely drag myself out of bed most days now and there is literally nothing else I can do.

@alexisbushnell @actuallyautistic it seems to be true that reducing reducing carbohydrate (especially refined) can help. It apparently has a suppressive effect on mood. Protein is certainly a good way to go.

@AngharadHafod @actuallyautistic I'm not reducing anything, just increasing protein by having protein powder in porridge, soups, sauces, etc and being extra sure I'm having protein at every meal.

I've seen lots of research about how protein is used to make serotonin, dopamine, etc so I figure stands to reason that eating more might decrease burnout symptoms a little.

@alexisbushnell @actuallyautistic but if you're not reducing anything else, then you'll be increasing your calorie intake. That's not a good thing, unless you were losing weight before.

If you are having a significant amount of extra protein your body (through hunger, or lack of) will probably tell you not to eat so much else, though.
