That or they expect you to be able to stop acting autistic when its pointed out you're acting autistic. Alternatively they assume you'll match their stereotype of an autistic which can be a type of robot with no emotions or understanding of them or you're someone with little or no brains (even someone with severe learning difficulties is more intelligent).

Or they assume your a maths wizz.

I'm rubbish at maths.

I could go on like this all night.

@AutisticMumTo3 Do we confuse non-autistic folk? Probably. We refuse to fit into either stereotype. I'm great (mostly) at mental maths and spelling, but I am a 'visual' learner otherwise. OH is not so good at spelling, and has mild dyscalculia, but he can visualise something when 'hearing' instructions. We are none of us performing apes. @AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic

@Tooden @AutisticMumTo3 @AutisticAdam @actuallyautistic yeah I'm pretty slow with arithmetic. Am good with algebra though and manipulating equations & variables.

I don't see much pt in mental arithmetic, though, in this new age of smartphones & ubiquitous calculator apps.

i'm so bad at mental math i think i might have legit dyscalculia. i'm so bad at recall i think i might have Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory (SDAM)... alas i can't find any diagnostic tests for the latter.

It took my years to stop treating myself like I was a complete failure in those areas, and accept that that's just how my brain works.

My memory is like a series of boxes. When in one box I often forget what is in a different box. I can remember events as if re-experiencing them often. I can't create that level of detail from being told about an event. Not even close.
