Roy Knabenshue is the first balloon pilot to take off, fly around, and land at the spot he took off from. His first flights at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair inspired my local hero Cromwell Dixon to build his own dirigible. Both pilots would spend the next few years touring the eastern US and playing shows for crowds.

In 1907, Kodak began their real photo postcard service which would print photos directly onto postcards people could send in the mail. These are some of the oldest surviving photos of airships, and this one is colorized by an artist.
