@rakkhi in fairness, this is just a mastodon test based client and I don’t think (?) it’s written in ruby. But I completely agree with the premise of your post
@jerry noticed infosec.exchange often fails with picture and video uploads. It takes ages even for a few 100kb file and video above 10mb fails more often than not.
Any possible optimisations? E.g upload to a CDN or link to Google photos?
The notification refresh is also often very slow.
Hopefully taken more as feedback than complaining. Definitely know you need more donations for scaling servers.
@rakkhi I believe this is an old problem coming back. The issue is that the reverse proxies load balance across a bunch of app servers. For some reason, and despite all indications that it should not happen, the reverse proxy will switch app servers during long upload. I need to go back to a 1:1 relationship between reverse proxy and app server. I didn’t realize it was still happening, so I apologize and will get that fixed tomorrow.
@jerry is there any formatting especially for lists supported here? Googling just got me different clients and GitHub issues for adding formatting to various Mastedon servers
