They profit from user-generated content and monetize your data, and now they’re asking for your money to keep creating content for them.
You should walk away from these toxic platforms. In reality, there are tons of excellent software options that do not collect and sell your data while allowing you to use their services and protecting your privacy at the same time. Mastodon (I guess most of you have already heard of it), Element, SimpleX Chat, WireMin, Session, etc. I can keep listing them all day.
Passkey is some sort of specific unique key to a device allowing to use a pin on a device instead of the password. But which won’t work on another device....
It’s definitely more secure since it only works on one device. And I think they might have gotten this idea from a decentralized network.
This actually reminds me of a decentralized social network application. They allow one account to be logged into multiple devices through a private key (backup recovery phrase), however, different devices may have different passwords, and each password only works on its respective device.

What concerns me most is that biometric data is permanent and cannot be changed. If we share it with the digital world, it could lead to lifelong privacy risks. And I believe that the risks and threats to privacy brought by the UK’s Online Safety Bill far outweigh the protection it can provide us with.
I don’t know how the government plans to enforce the Bill, but as far as I know, some decentralized encrypted messaging apps are unstoppable, because every user who using the app jointly creates the social network that avoids a single point of failure.
