I discovered when I graduated from Computer Science I prefer people to programming. I toot about Privacy and about how RFC1984 relates to that. I'm concerned by the threat of mass data collection and surveillance. I like to raise awareness of this RFC: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1984

It doesn't matter if it's grifters about cryptocurrency, AI, mass data collection or even plagiarism.

It's done without explicit consent. It's exploitation of others, it's objectification.

It's a violation, to trick them out of money, or information about them.

But then you look at our offline cultural history, it's no wonder consent is often given the barest of lip service. Our society is corrupt and we encoded that corruption into our systems.

I'm frankly always a little horrified about the idea of plagiarism because it's not just the idea of stealing work.

It's stealing someone's voice and way of thinking.

When AI does it there's a danger of that voice being mixed into something bland and mediocre.

But it's still someone's voice, emotional creativity being stolen. It's stealing power, and with AI, not just earning power, but literal resources at a time when we need frugal computing for degrowth.

@clacksee @bookstodon yeah I remember reading one of Karen Slaughters books we'd been given as a gift.

My husband and I didn't read another. It's definitely was a dead dove don't eat situation.

I think CWs are a good thing. It just prepares you.

It's like having the tags for archive of our own. It's a good thing. Sometimes I may be in the mood for dove. It's nice to be warned.

Detail from the one of my favourite ancient Roman mosaics. There’s tentacles galore to enjoy here as well as many different examples of marine life 🐟🐙🦑🦐

@phistorians @histodons @antiquidons @archaeodons its amazing to see in person, the Archeological musem is amazing. If you can see Pompei and Herculaneum as well it's well worth it.

I'd say Herculaneum did, because it's a less popular site and very well preserved. Although seeing the food stall remains at Pompeii and going back to Naples to have Pizza gave me pause.

We saw Herculaneum the day before we went back. When we were waiting for the train we had pizza at the small place at the top of the hill. So I feel I reflected more on the people and the lost history there.
