My wife and I are talking about downsizing our house. Our kids are grown and I need something before it’s time for the old folks home - but I’ve concluded the new house has to have an atrium for my orchids. I’m also liking the idea of building a house out of shipping containers but my wife is less than enthusiastic about the idea

@jerry Go the other way.

Buy a mansion, with one wing being the elderly home (you seem to be set on that). Downsizing is only viable when you don't have enough servants to wait on you.

Also, is a shipping container really the way it can work in America? I'd have to spend tons on insulation alone to be able to survive a winter :-D
