YYYY-MM-DD is best when programming because it’s unambiguous and it makes sorting easier. For humans DD-MM-YYYY is indeed the most sensible.

loutr, to games in Overwatch 2 is now Steam's "worst game of all time"
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Spot on. I dont give a single fuck about shovelware, but I absolutely care about OW and how Blizzard managed to turn me off a game I was pretty much addicted to.

loutr, to greentext in Anon uses arch btw
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Gentoo goes even further, you can disable features for individual software so they aren’t even compiled in.

And you’re not really on your own, arch’s wiki and forum are really good and helpful.

First RPG was pretty good, haven’t played the sequel.

loutr, to memes in What do you choose?
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yes, would be much more entertaining than all the others combined.

Less than 1% alcohol? Good, anymore than that would get me all tipsy and shit.

loutr, to technology in Google's Web DRM is Worse than I Thought...
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Exactly, why don’t all these chromium-based browsers which came out against WEI don’t fork Chromium to maintain a base version without this bullshit? And manifest V3 while they’re at it.

loutr, to news in Students banned from using nicknames under new anti-trans Florida schools guidance
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah but “COMMUNISM killed more people” so fascism is cool I guess.

loutr, to technology in 'World’s first mass-produced' humanoid robot to tackle labour shortages amid ageing population
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah but they need people to have enough money to buy their shit so they can get richer.

loutr, to technology in Why you shouldn't use Brave Browser
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

They block the website’s own ads, but inject their own instead. So the user still gets ads, but the profits go to Brave. I know that if the site’s owner is aware of that and goes through the process of registering with Brave they get a share of the profits, but this should really be opt-in. As it is, the whole scheme is shady as fuck.

loutr, to news in Child from Honduras is one of two people dead on or near Texas’ anti-migrant border buoys
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

My understanding is that they are death traps designed to pull you under into a net and then you drown. There are warning signs on the US side but not the Mexican one.

Not sure how they work as a deterrent, maybe the goal is to kill enough people so news goes back to the migrants’ countries and scares the others off the trip? Otherwise if you already made it all the way to the border I don’t think you’d turn back because of them. Then again maybe the point is simply to kill migrants.

loutr, to games in When Baldur's Gate 3 came out, Steam's overall bandwidth consumption went from around 18 Tbps to 146 Tbps
@loutr@sh.itjust.works avatar

It could be opt-in with rewards for toggling it on.
