Mastodon went from 1.2M active users last week to 1.8M active users this week. That's not 70M users overnight, but it's something! 🙂

@Gargron we shouldn't aspire to 70m overnight or we risk the most important thing about fedi: fedi culture.

This is a Tortoise and Hare story IMO.

Growth at interpersonal speed is what we need. We don't need to compete because we've already won, but growing too fast is one way we can lose.

and culture is already threatened, by calls to operate like Meta in order to compete. 🤦‍♂️

Federation with is another means to degrade this vital culture, without which is worthless.

I'm tiring of pointing out the obvious because if people cannot see this now, I think they will wait until it is to late.

This is happening faster than I expected.

No gearing makes riding up hills "effortless" and sure if you're being pushed up by a motor that's fine, but that's not really a bike, it's a motorbike.

I avoid apps because they syphon data from your phone and sell it, but I regularly used and paid for @redditwasfun which is now dead thanks to capitalism.

Was a moderator on Reddit since 2014 but won't contribute there again and will do my best to never put my content on another commercial platform, nor read/share their links.

I host my dWeb blog and have four fedi personas, but what I'm waiting for is cos servers suck.

@ernest where to report an issue?

I'm trying to add a moderator to my magazine kbin.socual/m/SafeNetwork and enter the username in full eg @xyz but when I click to add them it fails saying the field cannot be blank!
