  • When recording video, hold your phone between your pinky and index finger, with the rest of your fingers along the back of the phone, and your thumb to stabilize. Just be careful not to cover the microphone!
  • As long as you’re standing still, use AF lock in darker environments; tap and hold on the point you want to focus until a lock appears and it will not automatically refocus
  • Enable the grid from Android camera settings for more professional looking photos. 3x3 is the best way to get photos that are perfectly level, and at the same time allows you to implement the rule-of-thirds if you want
  • There are telescoping tripods (such as this one www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09XHZ8F7F/) for around $20, with an included Bluetooth camera remote. The quality is surprisingly good and it’s great for family photos or outdoor photography.
  • When taking vacation photos, stand further back and use the zoom lens when focusing on people to get a nice focal length. When getting both the background and the people in the frame, default to 1x or 2x lenses.

I believe it to a degree, but I think it’s also a problem because we can’t ever change their minds if we’re not talking with each other. If they’re stuck in a hate-filled bubble, they’re only going to enrage each other further and accept each other’s biases.

It’s a different story if they’re attacking other people based on their own beliefs, then they should absolutely be banned from the platform. And if enough of that happens, then at that point de-federation should be the option (which I guess is probably the stage we’re at)

Everyone should have a voice to be honest. Shutting them out completely won’t help, it just creates a bubble. As a human species it’s important for us to communicate.

But yeah there’s definitely more of them here unfortunately.

Why is it that when companies start making good money, increasing that cash flow becomes the sole focus of all daily operations and and values fall to the wayside?

Ironically, their sponsors will now probably pull out and cause the company to collapse.

NewPipe, and YouTube Revanced are great apps you can use on mobile. They aren’t attached to any Google account so you can just use them and skip adds all day without getting any account theoretically banned.

For those who continue to use YouTube and adblockers on PC, simply just make a new throwaway Google account. In the case that they aren’t actually bluffing (they are) then at least your temp account will be banned.

Or in my case, my Thinkpad T490 is absolutely brain dead and shuts itself down / crashes during idle sleep mode every time.

Similarly, my Yoga C930 battery drained in 2 days while powered off and fingerprint scanner stops working after waking from sleep.

Lenovo used to be good…

My foot’s already half way out the door. I have all my plugins and password manager ready to go when I end up making the switch.

The only annoying thing right now is, there’s no tab groups on Firefox, and Google sites like Gmail and calendar have a weird aesthetic behavior where scroll bars show up where they shouldn’t be. It’s like nails on a chalkboard but for my eyes.

I also really do like using GPay in Chrome on Mobile when it’s available but I’ll have to forego that, or just use it when I need to.

Sidenote, Google knows it’s coming too cuz they made their password manager much better, and released passkey support. The timing is too perfect, they want another reason for people to stay. Good thing I have my own password manager!

Not to mention their proprietary built in apps aren’t that great. As a Windows user, doing anything to try and interact with any of the content on an iPhone (sync contacts, download photos, etc) was a huge pain in the ass. The amount of holes I had to jump through was so bad it must be intentional.

There’s a clear bias to only give good support to people who have macOS, my main PC is on Windows, and I don’t ever plan on buying a Mac. So it just means I will never own an iPhone again. They kind of dug themselves into a hole of this crappy walled garden and never thought to think it could also bite them in the ass.

@hackitfast@lemmy.world avatar

Honestly, I see it as a win.

The people that did this didn’t really act out in a coordinated attack. They were just kind of playing around, redirecting to lemonparty, changing page elements.

It could have been a lot worse. The site could have been redirecting to malicious websites, downloading trojans, doing a lot of bad things. Instead, we got direct attention to the security vulnerabilities in question, and they’re being worked on and patched out relatively quickly. Helps that a lot of those on these communities are focused in programming and cybersecurity.
