The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won. (gizmodo.com)

The last major holdouts in the protest against Reddit’s API pricing relented, abandoning the so-called “John Oliver rules” which only allowed posts featuring the TV host. The article describes it as "the official end of the battle," which seems an overstatement to me, but it's the certainly the end of the initial phase....

bradorsomething,

The users aren’t the value in reddit, it’s the content creators and savvy community members that respond to questions and leave useful content in their own right. Reddit lost a number of those, and those users are forming the nucleus of their demise.

bradorsomething,

This tree is trying to hail a taxi.

The other day I heard a friend talking about how "the moon's gravity affects our internal organs." This sounds like bull, but is it? And if so, how would I correct their misinformation?

I think the reason some people might believe this claim is because we’re taught in school that the moon’s gravity causes the tides. I think the reasoning goes, “well if the moon’s gravity can affect the tides, surely it can affect smaller things too”

bradorsomething,

Fine, I’ll admit there’s a god… just put away the moon pee!

Why does “come here” bother me so much?

Ok, I have no idea why this bothers me and I don’t even know what to call it. My husband is a “come here” guy. Something he thinks is interesting and wants to show me - hey, come here! Nuclear apocalypse - hey, come here! Why the hell wont he just tell me why he wants me to get up, trudge to wherever he is, so that he can...

bradorsomething,

It’s a manipulation of sorts; you’ve followed the first command so now there’s an expectation to follow the next when you get there.

If you want to mess with these people (or stop it), agree to go there and then say no and walk off on the next command.

bradorsomething,

Yacht builders had better start hiring then…

bradorsomething,

Let’s celebrate by not having to downvote a “He Gets Us” ad.

bradorsomething,

Mathfinder 2 has a way to fix this…

bradorsomething,

The AI most regular people are using, you can think of as better at sifting the sea of data to find what you are looking for, and discussing it with you in a more understandable way.

The breakthroughs with AI are often computer programs that are told to look for an answer and change themselves somewhat randomly, but with many, many copies trying the task. The ones that fail are deleted, and the most successful change up again. This is repeated until you reliably get your result.

bradorsomething,

pretty much, but much faster.

bradorsomething,

Actually he sold it, pure hubris.

bradorsomething,

So I use an Ender 3 Pro and have a broken 5Pro in my shop; what is causing the move for you?

bradorsomething,

Thank you, that’s a great explanation. I don’t have time for a new machine right now (I’m only printing minis) but that’s on my radar if I do.

bradorsomething,

I’m just doing them on an Ender3 with PLA, as long as the filament is dry and the heat is tuned I can batch them for monster of the week or what have you. Using a paint to fill gaps and strengthen the form helps.

bradorsomething,

They circle the protums and neutrums.

bradorsomething,

If Reddit becomes where you get the official brand story instead of the truth from users, it might as well be Facebook.

bradorsomething,

I often am reminded by people eager to make money off my work how much more I could do.

bradorsomething,

This should be for upper level clerics, those are clearly high heal boots.

What are the best instruments for a beginner to pick up?

So i have (i think) no mucical talent becasue in school i was always bad at music classes and was behind compared to others also i coudent stand all the noises going on. im not sure why but i wanted a keyboard pinao becasue i like the way they sound, once i got one i tried to have some folks teach me but i imeditly got...

bradorsomething,

That’s a good choice for a beginner. Too many people want to pick up a custom gas spectrometer from Guitar Center with dreams of doing heavy science on stage with a research group right from the get go.

bradorsomething,

Should a changing really have a gender?

How do you choose an instance and does that have a significant effect on your Lemmy experience?

I originally chose to make my account on lemmy.world since all the content seemed to come from there. But I’ve since learned that I can fill my feed with stuff from any instance so it feels like it doesn’t actually matter if I’m on lemmy.world or not. At the same time, Lemmy.world seems to be frequently under attack so...

bradorsomething,

I came here with the dndmemes crowd to ttrpg.network and I’m having a great time. Find your people, and you can easily subscribe across to what you want to see.

bradorsomething,

Much better choice of words - and as the intelligent conversation and content creation shifts services, eventually there will be a tipping point.

bradorsomething,

Probably 50 million users and 50 million alt accounts to look at porn.

bradorsomething,

I can see it help make reddit more mainstream, by attracting influencers. Imagine IG Influencers or Youtubers encouraging people to engage with them personally on reddit.

…please like this post and friend me, and ring that bell. Oh man, you’re right, they’re going to go the tickytocky YouTube route.

bradorsomething,

AI: This.

bradorsomething,

That’s how this happens. The community is the value, not the platform. Once a critical mass crosses over, the same community can continue.

bradorsomething,

“It’s a bunch of bananas, Michael, what could it cost, $4.55?”

bradorsomething,

The “be a good person” and “you’ll be forgiven” are two separate ideas. Digging into it requires digging into a lot of different religions and their beliefs. Churches and people disagree on how those go together.

I don’t feel your request of “understanding the reasoning that Christians use” relates well to the question in your title. Much of religion now is repeating dogma rather than spiritual awareness and bettering yourself.

bradorsomething,

This would be a great post for an “explain it like I run Reddit” instance.
