I also opened up https://mastodon.ie/@SARS2PA for updates on Covid19 in Pennsylvania. No, I'm not in the medical field. I just think being able to breathe is pretty cool.

Pretty simple and straightforward proposition in this week's column: The federal student lunch program that existed during the COVID emergency worked. Bring it back.

"It’s a national problem, and the solution must come at the national level. While programs such as the one in Massachusetts are short-term wins, the risk of politicizing the issue outweighs the benefits.”

It's already "political" 🙄 when we have lots of politicals that think kids shouldn't be able to eat 🤷

>We instead should be insulating the young from precariousness rather than linking their provision of nutrition to the ongoing political salience of “tax the rich”

How?? By correcting decades of wage theft? By instituting extra taxation on the top % class to provide solutions like school lunch, national health care, a national unemployment fund? A renewed tax credit (which does the LEAST)??

They will cry SOCIALISM!! at ALL of this.

Let them cry.

...that the GOP complained about anyway, as per the article you cite:

>"despite pushback from some Republicans who say taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for a program that could benefit non-needy families and possibly lead to tax hikes to cover the cost."

People carrying water for top%ers are going to FIND a way to complain about providing kids with dignified meals.

I NEVER want to hear "pro-life" come out of the mouth if a top%er if they don't like these programs.

All that's true, however, maybe the taking point of "wealth redistribution" could be countered by the fact that these people became wealthy due to wealth redistribution in the first place...it's blatantly ignored that people awarding themselves a wage 400x that of a regular worker takes meals off workers AND THEIR KIDS.

Redistribution also was instituted in other states and the top% never ran to Texas to avoid it.

Again, they're tiring. Let'em cry.

Thank you, @milan, for taking care of this on social.tchncs.de

Looking in the moderated forums lists, they have like a milion Mastodon instances set up already. Pages and pages of instances. it's nuts.

@katzenberger @milan

If you go to "Moderated Servers" in your instance "About" page, you can see a list of blocked and limited servers. In Mastodon servers that have blocked Threads you can see a list of what the moderators blocked.

Here's an example from mastodon.ie. THREE PAGES of servers for Meta and this isn't even half of them.

(For the visually impared, there's nothing very interesting on these screenshots. it's literally just long lists of suspended Meta servers.)
