UnfortunateShort, to linux in Why Personal Cloud Storage is so bad on Linux?

MEGA is an optiom, rclone is the option. Supports next to anything.

UnfortunateShort, to linux in How do I configure a password less Polkit? [OpenSUSE Tumbleweed] [KDE Plasma]

This is the only clean and correct answer.

The PAM configs are like rulesets that are applied in order and for a program. You can find them under /etc/pam.d (at least on distros using systemd I guess). There you just need to put something along the lines of

auth required pam_permit.so

at the very beginning of the polkit named file and it should work. Verify it is tho.

UnfortunateShort, (edited ) to linuxmemes in opinion

Honestly tho, it’s amazing how bad a lot of distros look out of the box. Often even the preferred DE doesn’t look quite right and all the alternative ones are just awful ports.

Slapping your logo onto something and matching the color scheme isn’t designing dammit :D

UnfortunateShort, to linux in ChromeOS is splitting the browser from the OS, getting more Linux-y

*Linux-y again - it’s Gentoo based after all.

UnfortunateShort, to linuxmemes in So proud

They’re doing it the wrong way round, VBox was actual garbage on Windows the last time I tried it. On Linux it just works and on Windows I considered myself lucky whenever something worked.

UnfortunateShort, to linuxmemes in How dare you mention upsides of Wayland or systemd

Basically every tech publication. In Germany heise.de is the largest publication, usually with very interesting and balanced, but the comments are deliberately hidden away. They are a place where the worst of the internet lives apparently.

UnfortunateShort, to 196 in arch rule

That seems a bit dated, at least I have been happy with btrfs for quite a while now :D

UnfortunateShort, to technology in The U.K. Government Is Very Close To Eroding Encryption Worldwide

Maybe if the EU did this, something like that would happen. With the UK? Pull your headquarters out there and dare them to block your service.

Go ahead, ban all messaging services and cause riots. I’ll wait.

UnfortunateShort, to linux in What we plan to remove in Plasma 6

There is a wallpaper plugin that grabs pictures from subreddits of your choice, or probably was if they used Reddit’s API. Maybe one could port this to Lemmy or other services.

UnfortunateShort, to privacy in Saying that using an adblocker is immoral is no different than saying that it is immoral to switch the TV channel in a commercial break

It is, because you don’t switch the channel, you decide to skip the commercials that are meant to finance it.

I think they are immoral beyond any doubt, but many websites are acting immoral as well, which justifies their use. I happily disable them for sites with an ethical approach to advertising and data collection.

UnfortunateShort, to worldnews in Japan to open hotline for male sex victims amid Johnny's abuse claims

“Sex” is a weird way to say “rape” or “abuse”. Some might even say wrong or downplaying.

UnfortunateShort, to memes in *points finger* That's bait.

It’s surprisingly easy. Just install Lutris and than Epic via Lutris with Proton as runner and you’re good to go. I wouldn’t have thought it works just like that.

UnfortunateShort, to linux in What microphone are you using for Linux?

HyperX Quad Cast. Since it’s USB, it just works. Sound quality is very good for the price, but you can get better ones of course.
