TommySalami, to games in Madden should not be 70$

Jokes on them, my limit is wildly low compared to this. Most sports games are worth 20 bucks max at this point, the main content is just reskinned gameplay with updated stats and an unnecessary twist on controls. Its DLC.

TommySalami, to moviesandtv in Spider-Man: No Way Home Director Confirms What We All Suspected About the Ending

It’s honestly wild, and ranges from stuff that I can only assume is due to people playing on their phones and half-watching, to a level of ignorance about storytelling that basically requires the plot being exposition dumped for them to grasp it. I genuinely don’t get it, and it can make recommending good shows/movies difficult.

This is one of those weird family connections I’ve known about for a while, but have to keep reminding myself its real. My brain refuses to associate those two people.

I can’t be the only one that remembers this

TommySalami, to worldnews in Biden asks Congress for $40 billion to support Ukraine, replenish US disaster aid and bolster border

They don’t, they just get ready to clutch their pearls and say “well, I never…” when it happens again. These people are from the same stock that let Hitler rise to power, and thought appeasement was the best way to deal with aggressive authoritarians. Anything short of full liberation of Ukraine’s territory only encourages Russian belligerence.

You want to save lives? You make it clear to Russia this kind of shit will only leave them bloodied and empty handed.

TommySalami, to news in Elon Musk's Twitter was fined $350,000 for snubbing the special counsel investigating Donald Trump

Which is honestly how I’m starting to feel all corporate fines should be. You want to slow walk a solution or request for a few days to feel big, you can do that for a few hundred thousand or more (that’s free money baby, and it should be put towards the public). You want to actually play hard ball? You will be staring down the barrel of complete financial ruin.

Now if we can just add more opportunity for criminal charges I’ll be happy.

TommySalami, (edited ) to games in Baldur's Gate 3 Review Thread

There’ve been fantastic CRPGs in the last handful of years. Off the top of my head: Divinity Original Sin 2 (2017), PoE/PoE2(2015/2018), Tyranny(2016), Torment: Tides of Numenera(2017), Pathfinder Kingmaker/WotR(2018/2021), and Disco Elysium^1^ (2019).

There’s definitely been a comeback, I feel like I’ve been eating good on that side for a while now.

^1^Play this game if you haven’t. It’s so fucking good

TommySalami, to news in Infant RSV shot wins backing of CDC advisors, paving way for fall availability

This is great news after last year. I saw so many sick babies and miserable kiddos. It’d be great to have something to let them avoid all of that!

TommySalami, to mildlyinfuriating in Capitalism indoctrination in progress.

“Man, my job pays horribly and the benefits barely cover anything, but they have a ping-pong table so it’s honestly a tough call.”

I struggle to understand how someone could seriously write something like that question without a lack of self-awareness so dire that a walk to the kitchen would come with a near-death experience. It just can’t be real.

TommySalami, (edited ) to internetfuneral in Methamphetamines

Hell, they still prescribe meth in some instances. It’s called Desoxyn. Adderall, a drug so commonly used right now there’s a shortage (or was, very recently), is a strong amphetamine. They’re used for a quite a lot medically, and all have similar effects on the body by definition.

The issue at play here is amphetamines are doing a number on vasoconstriction and heart contractility, which then boosts heart rate and BP. This increases the chance of all that fun stuff like ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, heart attack, or a dangerous dysrhythmia. When you add in anesthesia that has similar effects (vasoconstriction), you massively increase the odds of a complication. Thats without considering the already existing damage likely present in those abusing drugs of this sort.

TommySalami, to mildlyinfuriating in This SUV parking

I mean, the answer is “Your vehicle is too large to park here.” It’s one of the reasons I drive a smaller car, parking is a bitch where I’m from and I’d hate passing up spots because I can’t fit.

TommySalami, to memes in I'm tired of the inequality

This is why I’m a pesca-pescatarian. I only eat fish that eat other fish.

TommySalami, to memes in The world will be doomed without them!

I’m going to be annoying and tell you that you were mildly shocked, not electrocuted. “Electrocute” specifically refers to lethal exposure to electricity, as a portmanteau of “electric” and “execute”.

Though I think the word is starting to go the way of “literally”.

TommySalami, to piracy in preach

Theres some truth to this, but a lot of people do use this as a shield against the general cultural acceptance that piracy is stealing or otherwise morally underhanded. I do it, but I don’t have any illusion I’m one of the activists. I just get indignant and refuse to pay someone for content or entertainment who I think is damaging to the medium or predatory in general. I feel like if I really wanted to make a statement, I just wouldn’t consume their work at all – but life is short and I want to have my cake and eat it too.
