Syldon, to worldnews in Iran's women a year after Mahsa Amini's death: 'I wear what I like now'

Brave people, Respect!

Syldon, to news in Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs law restricting release of her travel, security records
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

Are you suggesting that politicians create issues to hide other more heinous issues? That would just be dead catting.

A honest politician is usually the more open one. You would think that getting threats would be an indicator she is doing something upsets people, and she wants to double down on the crazy.

I can understand restrictions on upcoming events, but there is nothing wrong with releasing them after they have been used. It is not like someone is going to go back in time to commit an offence.

Syldon, to news in California fast food workers to get $20 minimum wage under new deal between labor and the industry
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

It is great to see the US apply some sort of protection laws that actually matter. I would have liked to have seen this applied as a minimum wage across the board not just large companies. I get the feeling that companies will downsize just to avoid the law.

This quote is bloody awful to me. It is like an exert from a dickens novel.

Ingrid Vilorio, a fast-food worker at a Jack In The Box in the San Francisco Bay Area, said the increase in salary next year will bring some relief to her family, who until recently was sharing a house with two other families to afford rent.

Syldon, to worldnews in Poll: Most Ukrainians consider president directly responsible for corruption in government
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

I kind of agree. The language used is ambiguous to say the least.

Syldon, to worldnews in Head of NATO says Russia invaded Ukraine because of NATO expansionism
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

Maybe if Russia/Stalin had not decided to annex half of Europe there would not have been a cold war. These people decided to sleep with the Russians. The enemy of your enemy is your friend.

Syldon, to worldnews in Biden lies about witnessing 9/11 and being at ground zero
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

Pretty stupid, since Trump did exactly the same thing.

Happy to admit I was wrong on this one.

The EU has said it welcomes Ukraine’s efforts to fight corruption. Can you find a link that actively states it is a requirement?

Syldon, to worldnews in Poll: Most Ukrainians consider president directly responsible for corruption in government
@Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

Thank you very much. No real questions regarding his honesty at all?

Do you agree with the statement that the president carries a straight line responsibility for corruption in the government, military administrations?

This does not say he is responsible for the corruption, as in taking part. It only states that the buck stops with him and him alone. As I said context is everything.

    Always follow the money trail. The company who completed the poll has some credibility behind it. It also produces a full financial statement. None of which shows the company is led by bad influences. It even gained 20% of its funding from the British Embassy at one point.

    I cannot read the questions asked. They are shown in pictorial format and my translate programme cannot handle that. How you ask the question has a huge sway over the answers given. But since the company has the appearance of due diligence, I would see this as something that the Ukraine government should be looking at as a problem. You never fix a problem if you do not recognise it as such.

    Syldon, to worldnews in A plane took off from Switzerland with 111 people on board and 0 of their suitcases
    @Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

    Someone has actually closed that baggage door knowing that there was not a single suitcase in there.

    Syldon, to worldnews in Only half of required number of trainee secondary teachers in England recruited
    @Syldon@feddit.uk avatar

    I agree with this. Even more so if you add in that we need to make education cheaper for the younger generations. If you are not investing in the future, then you can really expect to have one.
