Give a commie block a fresh coat of paint every decade or so and they can look good (though I just don’t like flat roofs. But that’s personal taste.)
But while a somewhat run down european style house can still have some charme for longer (guess I’m biased here) a run down commie block in gray and with cracks in the facade will quickly start to look depressing.
And as they are often chosen for cost reasons inside capitalistic environments, they are often neglected.
So, the problem is not commie blocks, but how they are maintained. And as often we tend to search for the extreme examples if we (dis)like something.
Or getting your doctor say (tho way more nicely): “Some of your conditions may be caused by being fat. Please go to this public-healthcare-funded dietary assistant that will create an individual dietary plan for you”.
Lost 20kg in the months following it and stayed at the lower end of the “slightly overweight” area since 2 years.
I’m in no way a healthy person, but I would be way less healthy without public Healthcare. And probably wouldn’t be a net positive to the economy as well.
And in an economic view: If I would not have received Healthcare when I was broke and homeless I wouldn’t have been able to pay more in taxes and back into public healthcare in the last two years than I have ever received in my life before.
Imagine you’re right in the act and suddenly somebody stands next to you and screams fus ro dah. I would definitely instinctively jump in the other direction
My adventurers (who live with me currently) already learned two things:
A smirking DM is a bad sign
laughter and a “why shouldn’t I try this?” while preparing the next session is an even worse sign.
I was never really a power-hungry guy, but nothing gives a more powerfull feeling than grinning and throwing the dice while my adventurers wait for wtf is happening.

Wenn der Fall nicht sofort behandelt werden muss (ich nehme mal an Suizidalität oder sowas. In meinem Fall haben mittlere Panikattacken nur für ein paar Blätter Informationsmaterial gereicht.
