@jerry I wonder if people get spooked by news about mainstream services and sign up as 'placeholders', but find themselves never really migrating.

Are there any stats about things like how many people have added an avatar, profile background, and followed at least five folks?

Is anyone using the Mastodon app on Android having trouble logging into infosec.exchange or other mastodon instances, with the error that it "seems not to be a Mastodon server"?

I don't have android and it appears to be working fine on iOS

@Five Yes, and... I think there are probably a lot of opportunities for people to make their own living rooms, lawns, and driveways 'third places' in their neighborhoods. We've built a monster, but it's our monster.

@jerry If it's dedicated hardware and not shared, and you manage the only workloads that go on it... is it a good candidate for "mitigations=off" ?

I can't believe I'm saying that, but this seems like a case where that might be a safe option.
