While reviewing artwork for a children's picture book, I found inverted clothing patterns and limbs, missing background colors, perspective issues, thought bubbles that should be speech bubbles, errant lines, and layout problems.
You sit at your desk. You read what's been written. You stop. You stare. And then, you start to wander, aimlessly. You start to wonder, purposefully. We let ourselves get lost. We "court digression", Judith Kitchen says. We look to be led astray.
In day-to-day life, creative #writing is more of a hygiene requirement like showering or flossing for me. It's something I have to do to stay healthy and happy, and I arranged my life and made sacrifices to make time and space to write. Most days it's not fun in itself, though, like gaming, reading, or often even my day job.
I do enjoy the writing process when it hits the right notes and I often love the results, but it can be difficult and nerve-wracking. Most days it's something I get done and out of the way so I can get a move on and relax for the rest of the day. Does this make me a weirdo? 🤔 #WritingCommunity@writers
